Chris Monahon
Chris has been inspecting for more than 25 years having succeeded his father in the business. He has built National Home Inspection Service of New England (NHIS) into the most prestigious inspection company in New England. His more than 25,000 inspections underlines his demand.
He is considered the Dean of Inspectors and has helped both the American Society of Home Inspectors and the New England Chapter grow. Prior to joining NHIS, Chris was a contractor and builder. He built and renovated homes in the area. A college graduate, Chris enjoys biking, music and sailing. He holds memberships in ASHI, NACI, AARST (Radon), and Environmental Assessment Association. He lives in Newton with his wife, a nationally recognized rabbit breeder, and two daughters.
Jon Haywood
Jon began his career as a carpenter at the age of 15, was a fine furniture maker until 20, and has owned and restored several 18th Century homes, built a summer home and is currently remodeling his Newton home. He has been inspecting for six years.
Prior to joining National Home Inspection Service of New England (NHIS), he was an Assistant Director of Admission and then the University Registrar at Boston University where his responsibilities included oversight of the tradesmen in the maintenance and remodeling of more than 162 classrooms and lecture halls. He was also a business consultant, a State employee as manager of Accounts in the Central Business Office, a Director of Finance for a social service agency, Director of Finance for a staffing company and Assistant Director of Operations for a Harvard Community Health center. He is a graduate of Boston University and a former Army Officer.
Jon lives in Newton with his wife. He has three sons and a daughter. His voluntary work includes the Board of Directors of Children's Services of Roxbury, New England Village, and former Director and President of the University Credit Union. He enjoys ownership of a country Inn, sailing and wood working.
Donald Bissex
Donald is the newest of our inspectors having recently completed more than a year of rigorous training by the Dean of Inspectors. He has completed more than 300 inspections in all types of buildings. His prior experience includes ownership of a home improvement company, quality assurance and management in computer businesses.
He holds under graduate and graduate degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in Geography and Regional Planning. He lives in Melrose with his wife, co-author of a best selling cookbook, "Make Over Meals" and two daughters. While he lived in Virginia, had oversight of a 64 unit Townhouse development and was President and also Architectural Committee Chair. A Massachusetts licensed home inspector, Donald has memberships in ASHI and AARST.
Susannah Monahon, Radon Testing
Susannah manages our Radon Testing Division. She holds a Certified Radon Inspector registration from AARST the only program of its kind in the U. S. She is a 10 year licensed Radalink inspector and has performed over 7,000 radon tests using their proprietary technology. Radalink continuous radon monitors are a giant step forward in the radon testing profession. These “active” testing devices prevent tampering and provide hour-by-hour test results giving you, our client, real time radon level data, a powerful tool to safeguard your family’s health and an important contingency in all real estate transactions. Results are sent by email directly to you. When you take advantage of our radon testing program, you will be hearing from her as she follows up all radon tests with a phone call.
Ms. Monahon is the proud mother of 2 beautiful young women. Nobody holds her in higher esteem than her husband of 30 years, Chris Monahon, the president of National Home Inspection Service. A New Jersey native, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and is a nationally recognized NMRRC blue ribbon rabbit breeder.
